Which european car is the most expensive to fix?

car
mlpantuso7 asked:

I am a college student looking for a reliable car, but one that is inexpensive. I know European cars have long lives, but they are expensive to fix if something goes wrong. I am looking at Mercedes, Saab, and BMW. While we are at it if you have any info on Audis and Acuras I would love that too! :)

I’ve never heard of or seen an Acura anywhere in Europe so can’t help you there.

The other four you mention are all going to be relatively expensive to repair if they go wrong as they are all considered higher quality cars.

The trick is to buy a car that’s reliable then it’s repair costs are not an issue.

mercedes are probably to most expensive to fix/service out of the lot, then beamers.
Audis are pretty reliable but i believe you will have a tough time reselling it later on in the US, i don’t thnk they have a good marketshare.
saab are very safe cars and i think it is now a GM subsidiary so you can fix it in any GM service center (to be verified), they are very reliable and safe.note that it also depends where you live. if you are by the beach get yourself a BMW 3 series (not necessarily the M3 which is the strongest and most expensive of the line, but a 328 convertible)
if you live in an area which lots of rain and some snow in the winter go for a 4×4 bmw x5.
if you want to look at mercedes : a c class or a clk convertible
if you want a 4×4 look at the new glk
for audi, the cars are amazing, a6 (sedan) a8 (top of the line) the new q7 (4×4), they are all good, also the a3 (small car -compact type) or the a5 (coupe)
acura is to honda what lexus is to toyota, so you can go for that too.

your budget and how much you want to pay for it is an issue.
if you are looking to buy second hand, have the car checked by a mechanic and try to find out if the car was previously crashed.

Japanese cars (though I can’t stand them) are freakin’ tanks. My mom’s Honda blew out the radiator after 170,000 miles, but the engine is still going with a minimal amount of oil changes. As for my brother’s BMW, it’s been a pain in the ass. Audi’s aren’t great from what I’ve heard.

But what do I know? I’m a Oldsmobile man..

If you cannot afford European car maintenance, always avoid the Merc. There are much cheaper models, such as Renault and Seat for you to consider. Acura cannot be considered European model, same for Lexus or Infiniti. They’re still Japanese models.
