What word defines how many miles a car has left?
Rex asked:
I had a graphing question on a quiz that asks “The year the car was made and it’s total mileage” and then asks if it is a positive or negative graph. Of course, I put positive because the older the car is, the more it’s probably been driven. My teacher insists that mileage means how many miles a car has left before it starts to die.

Your teacher is wrong. Mileage is how many miles the car has been driven. It’s a measure of how worn-out the engine is.
The maximum mileage before the engine dies is called the “mileage life expectation.”
