In my neighborhood there is always some obnoxious car driver beeping their stupid cars and waking me up in the middle of the night!!! What should I do? Egg their cars? Pop my head out of the window and scream at them? Anything else?

Get their license plat number and a description of the car and driver, then call the cops.

people are just ignorant and self centered. Technically, the only time someone can sound their horn is to warn other drivers.

Those who beep their horn as a way of announcing their presence can be ticketed by a cop for unnecessary use of horn and disturbing the peace.

What bothers me is when people set their car alarms at 2-3-4am and the horn beeps. I have an option to only have the lights flash when the alarm is activated or deactivated. I’m sure they do too.

Is it someone too stupid to turn off their car alarm or someone too lazy to use their legs or their cell-phone to inform the people in the house that they are there to pick them up? When someone is waiting to be picked up, they should stay near to window and head out there before the person in the car beeps or they should tell their friends to come up to the door or to call them, rather than waking up the neighborhood. Plenty of people think the world should be inconvenienced for them, unfortunately.
So if there is a noise regulation in your city, the police might stop by to talk to the people living in that house about “disturbing the peace” with their ill-mannered friends. But if your city does not have a noise ordinance, you would have to stop by and see if just asking them to work out something other than waking the neighborhood as a signal that their ride has arrived…like finding someone more polite to pick them up or waiting outside for them or looking out the window to be sure they went outside as soon as their friend pulls up in the car.
But if they want to be a jerk, then only the derision of other people in the neighborhood can control their behavior, so other people could be persuaded to talk to them if you asked them if these people’s behavior was irritating them like it irritates you.

well if you don’t want to get arrested,
then i would try listening to music with headphones so it won’t make the cars obnoxious horn as loud.

My apartment is right on a busy street. You have no idea the fantasies I’ve had about throwing eggs at cars who blast their ghetto trash rap at 3am…

If I were you, I’d check and see if your city has a noise ordinance - I live in Dallas and there is one - the trouble is finding a police officer who is around when you need one.

Also - if you live in an apartment like I do, keep track of the cars when you can…if any of the people who honk live in your community, file a complaint with the mgmt. office.

PS - It is true…earplugs work wonders. I have several pair. If you get some, get no less than 33 decibels. :)

Girlfriend, the people who park their cars outside my apt. do the SAME THING. I don’t know what to tell you, I know I’m seriously tempted to throw my TV out the window and onto their car. But then I realize the loss of my TV wouldn’t be worth the momentary satisfaction of giving their car alarm something to really go off about
