What other cars are similar in price and performance to the coupe?

I’m disgusted with the problems with my Infiniti G35 Coupe (03 - 6 speed) and am planning on dumping this piece of garbage soon. What cars would you recommend?

I am getting rid of my G soon as well, but during the time I’ve had it, I’ve enjoyed it.

The cars that I am looking at now include:

    BMW 335i, M3, and a used 6 series
    Mercedes C Class, and CLK

I am still looking at a used 911 (996), but most likely I’ll go for the Audi A5 or S5.

I know it’s the opposite, but since I am in the same situation as you….I might as well say. I am also looking at a Range Rover (it’s not fast, but after a long drive in the G, my ass hurts, the RR is smooth)

In terms of price, the Acura TL and Lexus IS 350 are pretty close, and have somewhat comparable performance. Even the Pontiac GTO or Ford Mustang GT are somewhat similar in both categories.

The BMW 330 has been the G35 benchmark, but is more expensive than the G, when comparably equipped.

NISSAN ALTIMA IS A VERY GOOD VEHICLE.

In the same class - Lexus.

Well, assuming you want to stick with a coupe, on the used market, you can go for the GTO (faster in a straight line), Mustang (ditto), Mazda RX8(slower, handles better), older Acura CL type S (discontinued) or an even older Porsche (class and holds value), Corvette (ditto), Lexus SC430 or 330 (less performance than your G35).

New, there’s the same Mustang (muscle car), RX8 (slower), BMW 335ci (major overheating problems), RX8 or the Altima Coupe as well as the new G37, although I doubt you’ll go near a nissan lot anytime soon. But probably the best bet (reliability) is the new Honda Accord V6….although an accord is a dime a dozen and has nothing “special” about it.

Basically, if you’re like me and unhappy with the G35’s problems, your best bet is to get into a 4 door like the Lexus IS350, SC430, Subaru STi, Acura TL type S, or Toyota Camry SE V6 (mommy mover).

Good luck shopping, it’s too bad the Toyota Supra hasn’t been released or that we can’t trust Infiniti to build a product that doesn’t need multiple manual transmissions like me.

Finding a balance is hard. there are similarly priced cars that don’t perform as well, and there are cars matching in performance but are much more expensive than the Infiniti. The closest performance wise, is the BMW 335I, but expect to pay around $10K above the price of the Infiniti. Price wise you’ve got the MB C-class and the BMW 328I, but expect performance no where near that of the Infiniti G.

Your best bet for performance and price is looking at Mustang GT. Price and performance are pretty well matched, but you don’t have that Foreign car think going on with the Ford.

You could go with the Lexus IS and Acura TL. Pricewise they’re pretty close, but again performance is very lacking compared to the G. Front wheel drive, doesn’t compete when comparing it to Rear wheel drive for performance numbers.

    Go for a Acura TL
