You need to like and do well in science and math. When you say automobile engineering, I assume you mean mechanical engineering. So you will need to do well in high school algebra, geometry, trig, and any calculus courses they offer. Plus you have to have the motivation to do assignments on time and commit yourself to learning.
I believe your question re the transmission is related to a manual transmission. The clutch is disengaged when the shift lever is in the neutral position; it has nothing to do with idle. Bolivar
