What is the car-type vehicle driven around an airport to transport people and luggage?
Dominique asked:
What is the car-type vehicle that employees drive around with people, that usually have lights on it or something?

i think you’re talking about a TUG, they are basically just “workhorses” that are used to pull airplanes out from gates, pull luggage trailers, they pull anything and everything that needs to be moved… there are also ramp loaders that have convayor belts on them that move the baggage from ground level up to the aircraft belly. there are also shuttles that are driving around airports moving people, but all the vehicles have lights so they can function at night and be seen easier for safety

Some ramps call these vehicles Bobtails. They are rolling stock from either GM, Chrysler and/or Ford. The pickups are modified with heavy duty transmissions( usually an Allison), pintel hook for towing AGE, lights so you don’t hit by a plane, and other gear for ramp use. Companies like Specialized Electronics and East Bay Frame & Axel could do the work for you.
