What is so significant about being able to see shiny cars in the dark?

Those lyrics have bugged me for a bit now. What’s the meaning of those lyrics? Are they meaningless, or are they actually metaphorical?

I think that the lyric is ‘you CAN’T see shiny cars’ meaning that money doesn’t matter
