What commercially available jet would be big enough to carry cars?

cars
HabsAZillion asked:

Right, say if I wanted to start a car freight business or something. Instead of having massive ferries which take months to get from A to B, is there a commercially available aeroplane which can carry cars (more than one would be nice)? The only specifically built one I know of is the Carvair, which is a prop-plane and only one works anyway. The Antonov An-225 would be big enough, but only one has been built. The C5 Galaxy and military jets are, well, military jets, so would there be one which is available to lease and can safely carry cars?

A Boeing-747 cargo plane. Sure, if you had enough money, you could lease one.

You could start by investigating air cargo companies. pilot T

Most common cargo aircraft that can ferry cars are,

    Boeing 757, 767, 777, 747.

    DC 10, MD 11.

If your idea was a viable business, it would have been done. It isn’t done because there is no profit in it, so forget it. On the other hand, aviation is always in need of people who are willing to lose a lot of money on untenable business plans. Zaphod_Beeblebrox

The company I work for transports dozens of cars by air every day, most any Boeing, Airbus or like size aircraft works fine. Rick

Have you ever wondered why someone has not thought of this before?
They did, that is why they haul about 3000 of them at a time on a boat.
Think about it, if you could haul 10 at a time, it would take 300 trips to haul that many. Unless you could find a niche, it wouldn’t be economically feasible. eferrell01
