What cars are good to race when you drive a mustang?

V6?
Other mustangs. That’s about it.
I had a stock Mitsu Eclipse Turbo, that could walk away from V8 mustangs, of that generation.
Seen several Hondas with under 180whp, smoke them all day long. No nitrous, or any crazy stuff. Just stock engines.
The V6 has a stock 1/4 mile time of 17.3. Stock hp of 170~ at the wheels. There are SUVs and minivans that have equal, or better.
Go there. Anything slower than 17.3, is good competition for you. Everything else will beat you.

NONE on the street, unless you have a death wish or want to spend the rest of your life in jail for killing an Innocent bystander. Think about it. What prize of value is waiting for you at the end of the race?

You should race a ford pinto, Chevy Vega, Renault alliance and the like. People riding their bikes would also be good competition. Whoever above told you your car is 170 hp is lying, your car is ~140 hp (brand new mind you). The v6 mustang is not a sports car, please do not think of it as such. I’ve rocked a v6 mustang with my Volvo 850 turbo before, pretty sad really.

I think you should take on that plain jane looking Crown Victoria with the blacked out windows and the tiny little antennas on it.
The rest of us would be amused to see the results.

V6 Mustangs suck pretty hard, there’s not a whole lot out there you can beat.
My advice? Find some Berettas to pick on.

My stock V6 Pathfinder would smoke that thing. And it weighs twice as much.

Try a Puch or maybe a Vespa. I disagree with Z, I think the Chevy Vega would smoke that Mustang

Heres how you get a 1/4 mile with your mustang.
Automatic transmission? SLOW 17 seconds
Manual Transmission? BETTER 16.5 at worst(there was someone that hit near a flat 15 on a stock 95 mustang v6, he was a drag racer though)
Your not going to beat a whole lot out there.
Maybe some minivans, trucks, and hondas.
Hell, i beat a Honda SI with my 94 mustang v6, and i didnt even have much done to my engine.

If you want to be fast…
1.) Supercharger - Theres TONS of people that sell superchargers for the 3.8L v6 engine….Vortech, Procharger, Paxton,etc,etc.
2.) Turbo Kit - TMAturbos, Andy will hook you up with a Turbo kit or TWIN turbo kit for your mustang….he custom makes them from Garrett T4 or T5’s….your gonna drop $5000 atleast though. But even a basic street turbo kit from him will DROP most v8 mustangs you see, smoke most single turbo imports…or atleast hang with them.
3.) Nitrous - your STOCK engine can handle a 50shot safely, and run a 75 shot every weekened or so….there have been people that run 100 shots with no problems also…but wouldnt recommend it without getting Forged Internals.
4.) All Motor - supersixmotorsports.com sells Stage 1 - 3 Engine kits.
You can get Stage 2 Ported and Polish Cylinder Heads, Intakes,etc.
Drop in some 30# fuel injectors and a Walbro 255 fuel pump, and a ECU Tune, and a bigger exhaust…….you’ll have the power of a SVT Cobra and be doing it JUST motor, plus you’ll be 800lbs LIGHTER…..
You car is pretty slow stock, you need to select some mods from the List above…..then goto 3.8mustang.com………
These cars have TONS of potential and tons of aftermarket parts……your sitting on a super fast car, you just have to put the parts on it first!
