What can I do to get rid of sweat odors in my car seat?

car
Petra H asked:

I have a brand new car with cloth car seats. I gave a friend of mine a ride home last week and unfortunately he was pretty sweaty. Now the seat has an awful odor and when I leave the car closed up, especially on a hot day, the entire car absolutely REEKS!!!
This is really embarrassing as I have only had the car now for 2 weeks. I tried Febreze, but when I opened the car the next day, the odor was still there.
What can be done about this problem?

  1. Jim D Says:

Fill a bucket with about 1/2 inch of rubbing alcohol and another 2 inches of water.
With a sponge, squeeze the solution all over the seat so it soaks it completely, also rub it all over the seat back.

It should dry within a day in this heat, and should be much better.
