What are proper steps to disposing car in California?
SerpentKnights asked:
Hello, I recently got into an car accident. The front of my car is smashed and I highly doubt it’s repairable. What are the proper steps to disposing the car in California, preferably with as much information that can be provided and with least amount of liability strings. The car is a 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage DE, if that helps any. Thank you.

well technically ANYTHING can be repaired….but i would tell you to look into the phone book under auto wrecking yards. then all you need is the title and they haul it away….and its gone…
some places might even pay you a couple of bucks for it…(usually $20-100)

If an insurance company is involved, they’ll take care of it. If you do it yourself, call a large junk yard and ask if they want it. Some junk yards will even come and get it from you and help you with the paperwork.

It will be sold at auction, you sign it away, they pick it up. Very easy, I donated an old clunker and they took it off my hands, took care of the paperwork and gave me a small write off for taxes.

Call a Auto Salvage yard, they will pick it up for free. Sometimes Craigslsit, has ads for them
