notlifebutmagnificent asked: I recently left my lights on for about 5 hours on my 94 Saturn and killed the battery. I got a jump and drove up the street to the grocery store, ran in for 20 minutes, and it wouldn’t start. I was wondering about how long I would need to leave the car running to make sure that after the next jump, if I park it overnight, it will start the next morning. Battery is about 3 years old.
Also, do I need to actually be driving or can I just have the car running? Will it charge the battery either way?

My car just died and I need to run out this weekend and get a new one. What would you recommend? I was thinking about a Saturn but I have heard mixed reviews. What do you think of Saturn’s and what other types of cars are safe, affordable, w/good mileage? Thanks!

I have a 2004 Saturn Ion w/ 78,000 miles on it. The check engine light is on and I noticed when i start the car it immediately starts to idle around 2000 rpms. When i put it into gear(automatic) it drops down to around 1000-1500 rpms and the whole car jerks. Any suggestions on what i should check into?

JACQUELINE asked:
I see Civic cropping up a lot on other’s questions, but I know it’s high on the theft list. I’ve been driving a Saturn SC3, but it’s burning oil and I need something reliable. And I’ve noticed that Kia’s are dissed but my brother owns a Spectra and he can just plow that little car through snow when my little Saturn always gets stuck. I am looking at options. I make $10 an hour, so the sky is not really the limit. I am looking for a car that makes good economical sense and will probably buy it used certified if and when either my other debts are paid off or my cars engine catches on fire and the insurance company writes me a check. I’m just tired of running to have my car worked on 3 times a year for whatever random thing happens to go wrong.
