Your mom asked: I’m just curious because a person in my apartment building has to fire up his car about 15 times every morning before he feels it’s going to stay running long enough for him to take it out on the road. It dies just about every time after 20 or 30 seconds unless he revs the engine. What’s wrong with the car?

starcrossedbaby asked: I ran over something, and I guess it scratched something underneath my car. It started making noises and this morning, all the oil was leaked out of it. I got it towed and it has been at the shop since this morning. How long will it take to be fixed?
(It’s a beetle convertible, if this information helps)
what’s a estimate of the time it’ll take?
ex. weeks, a month…
I assume it was running out while I was driving and then leaked out overnight.

Pink, it’s my new Obsession asked: On a 91 Thunderbird I have to press the brake pedal ridiculously hard to make the car start. It’s gradually gotten worse over a few months and now it’s to the point where I can’t even do it, my husband has to. But when the car is running the brake works just fine, no problems at all, don’t have to push any extra harder or anything…it’s only when starting the car.
What could the problem be and can I fix it myself? Any suggestions, tips? Thanks.

Does anyone know of a commercial where there is white car that looks like the soul car from Kia (but I don’t remember what kind of car it is) and the car isn’t running but the streets move, its like a bunch of kids in the car? I am pretty sure its a new commercial (2009). I am trying to figure out the song.

I just bought a new car and I want to use my laptop in my car. I’m planning on getting an inverter so I can just plug it in like a regular house plug. I want to use my laptop to watch movies while the ignition is on so it won’t drain all the batteries. Will the car generate enough power to keep my laptop running and where is it getting the energy to charge the car battery if I’m not driving it.

My car has been off the road for quite some time. It runs great, but the battery died, i jumped started it, let it run about 10-15 minutes, the inspection is up so i cant run the car on the road, but i did drive it around my parking lot for a few minutes. I shut it off, i started it right back up, shut it off again, and then tried to restart it a second time, but it did not restart, so i have it running now, how long should i let it run to charge the battery fully. I am getting it inspected tomorrow, and i do not want to get stranded at VIP, because it wont start. Thanks!

GRS asked:
Okay I have a 1991 Chevy Beretta, it is a good running car, you can barely hear the motor running. I have spent at least 1700 worth of work on it, but it has 173,000 miles on it I was wondering how long is a car good for before it breaks down completely. Someone told me a car is good forever as long as you take care of it and keep it running good. Is this true? not to mention people who drive older cars like cars made in the 60s and 70s, they have to have lots of mileage right? but they are still running so how long for a 91 chevy beretta???????

notlifebutmagnificent asked: I recently left my lights on for about 5 hours on my 94 Saturn and killed the battery. I got a jump and drove up the street to the grocery store, ran in for 20 minutes, and it wouldn’t start. I was wondering about how long I would need to leave the car running to make sure that after the next jump, if I park it overnight, it will start the next morning. Battery is about 3 years old.
Also, do I need to actually be driving or can I just have the car running? Will it charge the battery either way?
