BeatsbyDre asked: Ive been having allot of trouble with my car lately. It shifts terribly and one time I pushed on the gas it didn’t even go anywhere. Also my RPM meter has been acting strangely and dropping below 5 on the RPM dial. I just need to know can a dealer diagnosis the problem better than a regular mechanic because it is there car?

GunLock asked: So I just left my car off at the car wash for an interior detail(washing the seats etc). He calls me out of the blue and tells me the check engine light is on and the car won’t drive anymore. He says the mechanic next door says its an expensive thing to fix too. The corolla is pretty new (4 years old) and I’ve never seen the check engine light on before. Wondering if the car wash guy broke something? What can I do?

super saiyan 3 asked: Okay, this mechanic told me a long time ago, but I kind of forgot. But he said that you could connect battery cables to both cars. He said that if you removed the negative (I am not sure) from one of the cars. It would give you a indication if the alternator was good. If the car in question alternator kind running after you removed the negative lead. It is good, but if it dies out, then the alternator is no good. But I just need some clarity. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Okay, here are some more details. The car won’t start at all. It’s a 1996 Honda Passport . The alternator will not turn over at all. The battery power is good. The starter and selenoid are brand new. When you turn the key, the ignition makes a clicking noise and the fuse box makes a clicking noise. Could it be something blocking the fuel injection line? My friend said someone put salt in her gas tank. But I just want to make sure because I will test the alternator will a multimeter later.

I don’t want to go to school for just Design, nor Mechanic schools. Is there a school that has a mix of everything?

retta asked: The mechanic did not put my vehicle information in the computer and has now since been terminated, the company says they are not responsible because he did not put my info in the computer. The car was at their shop and the mechanic said he was doing everything through the company. They now cannot locate my key or receipt and the work is not complete.

Cobra500 asked: I’ve always been obsessed with cars, but I’ve never had a chance to work on them. I know the basics on how they operate and how the engine works and everything. My dream is to eventually become a mechanic but I’ve read that I can get a job as a automotive apprentice. What kind of skills do you need to do that? Do I need advanced knowlage of cars or just beginner?

I love cars and tearing out the engine and putting it back together. I would love to become a mechanic for the funny cars in drag racing. How do I go about that? I just don’t know if it will be that easy since I’m a girl and a lot of people would be put off by that.
