I had a graphing question on a quiz that asks “The year the car was made and it’s total mileage” and then asks if it is a positive or negative graph. Of course, I put positive because the older the car is, the more it’s probably been driven. My teacher insists that mileage means how many miles a car has left before it starts to die.

Is starting your car over and over equivalent to driving many miles?

I once read that if a person were to start up their car to warm it up for instance, then turn it off and then return to start it again equals the same wear and tear as if one were to drive many miles. Is this true?
