kat asked: I am a student living in Ohio and have my own separate car insurance on my car. I have a CA license.
If I visit my parents in California, can I legally drive their car if I am not on the insurance policy?

scheccid2 asked: My car was parked in front of my house, the driver of a Dodge Ram truck passed out and hit my neighbors car which was right behind me. Her car rammed into mine that was rammed into another car parked in front of me. Now that the insurances where notified, what’s going to happen? Will I get any compensation besides getting the repairs paid for?

Pickle asked: We are planning on buying a new car soon and trading in the old one. How does insurance work? I’d like to shop around for the cheapest deal but that isn’t possible if I don’t know what car we are getting yet. Also I have only just renewed my car insurance this year. Will there be a penalty if I cancel that policy?

Mamacita asked: I need to buy a car but I’m unsure what causes the car insurance to be more expensive, is it based on mileage? Engine specs? Car year?

Mokaddasa asked: I haven’t bought a car yet because a lot depends on how much insurance will be. I’m a 27 single female living in Boston, I’ve had a license since 18 but never drove so it expired and I recently renewed it. I don’t have anything on my record. I would be the only person on the insurance. I went online but they required the make and year of your car to calculate the rates.

asked: I am a 19 year old girl. My parents are buying me my first car. It is a nice pre-owned car. How does the insurance for the car generally work? Is it required? I will be in college next year. Can they take care of my car insurance? How does it work? I heard that they can put my car under their insurance. Is this true? Please explain.

Dasher asked:
My daughter slid on some black ice and into another vehicle. No damage was done. The other driver basically said no harm no foul. The police were not called and both vehicles left, only exchanging information. This was in February 2008, now my daughter receives a bill from their insurance for repairs to the car. Is she responsible for this bill? Again ,no police report filed, and she was told everything was okay.

needassistance1 asked:
I now hear that is not a possible situation? That it is NJ state law that all financed cars must have full coverage. I was not aware of that. I also had GAP insurance on the car in case of the car being totaled, it had handle the loan. I heard from the car dealership that is only valid with full car insurance. Now, it seems like I have to pay off the car in full with interest. Is that my only option?
