I hear many people saying you should change your timing belt yada yada yada, however, does anyone know of anyone who has had engine failure due to timing belt not being replaced? It sounds to me like it’s another way for car dealerships/manufacturers to rip off the American public. What do you think? By the way, I drove my 93 Nissan pathfinder for 135000 miles without changing a timing belt, however, there were other problems.

Why after the Cash for Clunkers program are we no longer hearing about the crisis in the automobile industry? Now that this program is over haven’t the sales gone back down to the pre-program levels? I don’t see people lined up at car dealerships waiting to buy and I don’t see that this program will do anything in the long term. With the insignificant improvement in fuel emissions due to this - why doesn’t the media want to report about these things when it used to be a daily occurence?

Why do some car dealerships have the hoods up on the cars? What are you supposed to be looking at?

We have a dealership near us and they have a whole row of trucks (new) with their hoods up. Admittedly, I don’t know anything about cars but what exactly is the purpose of showing the engine and other stuff under the hood when buying a car? What are you supposed to be looking at?

I’ve been in the car business for 10yrs and am curious what buyers want in a car buying experience. I know everyone is going to say “honesty” but let’s try something a little more original. Most people in the car business are honest and hard working individuals and with all the information at a consumers fingertips these days it is a completely different business.
