Wendy H asked: I found a car I want and I believe I am going to buy it tomorrow (Saturday). My lender has pre-approved me and is ready to send the money. Can I give the car sales lot a deposit check to secure the car before my lender gets the money to them so they do not sell the car?

My car recently started jumping while driving it. It doesn’t do it all the time but by jumpy I mean it’s like it loses power every half a second causing the car to jump. No check engine light is on. It doesn’t do it all the time or when I pull it out of drive and rev it up. But you can tell from the idle it is the engine. Any ideas of what it could be so I can troubleshoot would be great.

But how do you get the car off the lot and have an independent mechanic check the car before you even buy it? How do you ask a car salesman if you can do that?
