I want to hang out in my car for a while and use the battery to charge my laptop. A few years ago I did this for too long (maybe a few hours) and my car battery died. How long can you keep a car on before having to either turn it off or start the engine and alternator to recharge the battery?

Thanks!
It is a 2003 Hyundai Elantra, the battery is about 6 months old.

Car wont start and battery cables have no power getting through them. Can anyone help?

I have a 93 cavalier the battery cables have no power getting through them. All the lights turn on and everything works it just wont start. When you turn it over all it does is clicks once in the starter relay. We tried jumping it with another car and there was no power in the terminals. We had the battery, alternator, and starter check at auto zone and they were all working. The ground wire is mounted to the frame and is rusting. Since the terminals have no power is that because the ground doesn’t have a good connection?

How long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery?

My car broke down on me again and we’ve been charging the battery on an external charger for a couple of hours now so we can see if it was the battery or my alternator. I was just wondering if that’s typical or not for the charge to take so long.

When driving your car why does air conditioning use more petrol?

I know that when the engine is running the alternator generates electricity which is used to power the electrics, but if you are on the motorway doing 70mph, I would have thought no extra power was required? Also if you switch on all the car electrics when stationery, you don’t hear the engine reving more to produce more electricity. Can anyone explain?
