My friends always ask me how to drive stick, but they know nothing about cars or transmissions so for me its hard to explain in an understandable way for them.

what I told my wife was that, its like dancing. you know the 123 move its like that 1.push on the peddle, don’t step or stomp 2.feel the gears, distinguish the gears and their differences 3.relive and move, don’t just let it go!, let it role. That’s my method and that’s how I feel some times (I love cars)

when your in first gear and you are about to let out the clutch give just a little gas then let out the clutch slowly.when you feel the engine start to “bog down” hold the clutch in that position until the car starts to move then as it is moving its like a set of scales.as the clutch comes slowly up the gas goes slowly down. after that to shift the scales move faster.1st and second are over to the left and up or down 3rd and 4th are self centered and up or down 5th and reverse are over to the left up or down. reverse depends on the type of car of course.stopping is clutch first then brake.

In a manual car, you have to shift gears yourself. Each gear can only handle so much speed until you have to shift to the next one . When you reach the max speed in one gear, you have to upshift to the next gear or higher gear. The major difference between auto and manual cars is the clutch pedal. Anytime you move the stick in and out of gear, you have to press the clutch down. The clutch pedal is also used to start the car. The other two pedals are self explanatory.
