How many times can a car start from a fully charged battery?

My car battery is fully charged, but not charging anymore (faulty alternator - long story). In two days I am driving it to the mechanic to fix the alternator. I wanna know whether I can use the car meanwhile without risking to drain the battery?

On a full battery you should get at least 800 miles from it, your car uses the battery while driving and not just to start up.
Also need to mention power steering assist can be a problem, if your car bottoms out and your steering locks on a corner you could have some life threatening problems Flux

It really depends on how much driving you do in those two days. While your car is running, it is using battery power for all the car’s electrical needs such as firing the spark plugs, the radio, electric gauges, et cetera. If you drive at night, that really sucks the battery dry because head lights take a lot of power. I wouldn’t use the car at all if it were me. Cuz you have no indication when the car will just stop entirely when the battery is dead. Derail

How much of a charge is fully charged depends on the age of a battery. If your battery is less than a few months old you can “probably” go for a couple of days as long as you don’t use headlights. An older battery might not be good for more than a few miles. Howard L

A few days as long as you don’t drive at night etc and run radio… but you will run the risk of killing the battery as well.. your car can also stall aswell if the alterator fails completely and sucks the guts right out the battery enough for all ignition power to be lost which happened on my work ute a few weeks ago..personally i’d only drive it to an auto electricians and get a reconditioned alternator for half price if its an older car…. if the shop is not too far should make it to shop car needs battery power to get fire to spark the plugs not charging might not start but once or twice it depends on how far yuor driving it wouldnt chance it much maybe a hour or less kelly_f_1999
