how do you clean an automobile engine?

Butter asked:

How would you clean an automobile engine? I heard an Engine degreaser works well, but is it safe and can it cause any damage to the engine. Is it safe to spray water over the engine? Thanks everyone for your responses.

Extremely short answer: Stay away from the distributor cap.

Slightly longer answer: If you use a degreaser, rinse it off well and you may have to rinse and repeat depending on the severity of the grease. tabulator32

buy some degreaser in a spray bottle..dilute it with some water so it doesnt kill your wires…. some shampoo and a brush would work also.. then just hose it down pimp
