How do I attach a wire to an automotive fuse?

How do I attach a wire to an automotive fuse? The fuse supplies a constant 12v which I want to send to my car stereo. I ran a wire from the stereo to the fuse panel (to the left of the steering wheel). The fuses have two metal prongs with a wire connecting them and the top of them is enclosed in plastic. Is there a special type of fuse that allows me to attach a wire?

Thanks!

Buy you a stereo connector to connect your stereo to your wiring harness. for 15-20 bucks you will save yourself abunch of trouble. trible_ice

I would not recommend doing that. What would be a better idea is to get a test light (it’s very cheap) and pierce a wire to see if it’s a hot wire, but is dead when the ignition is off, that way it will turn off when you turn your car off, otherwise you might forget to turn your stereo off and drain the battery down. Once you find a wire, cut it and use a butt connector to splice into it. ir rose

i did that before. just pull the fuse out and take a piece of covered wire, peel it away some and wrap 1 end around 1 of the prongs and put it back in. bandit_60
