in nearly 20 yrs of the business, I have learned to spot the telltale signs of repairs.

Mismatched panels, uneven body lines, overspray, mismatched bolts, bent auxillary brackets, there are a lot of ways to find out.

Rarely can you bring a car to a real veteran and him not discover a repair. xx_satanic_mechanic_xx

For anyone who's been in the business long enough, it's fairly easy to spot. Turned bolts, overspray, masking lines are all very easy tell-tale signs of a repaint. Nowadays most dealers are using paint meters to determine the thickness of the paint, again an easy indicator of a repaint. jay

If they are an accredited dealership they will make a FULL inspection on the vehicle...and yes anyone working in the business for a number of years will beable to find out the history of the car.
There are a million signs which tell them of the specific piece or part which has been replaced, repaired, or covered up. Only to the untarind eye you wont beable to see anyhting. On the other hand if your selling to a garbage delaership with already a bad rep..they prolly wont even give a &?*/. Derek

well if an accident hasnt been reported they cant tell
but thats why they have mechanics to do inspections on that car
an hour long inspection can tell them a lot about the car Alex

Professionals can usually tell can tell by overspray or even a slight mismatch in paint.
Frame damage is another indicator.
Everything is perfect when it comes off the line. If something does not look perfect, it is typically assumed there was repaired damage when cars are being appraised. Stupid Flanders

If you know and understand cars.... you can always tell if it has been in an accident. There are always tell tail signs that let you know something has been repaired. LT
