We do the same thing as iluvtorofl. Our dogs love to go for car rides. We make it a big deal. We put their collars on and say "who wants to go buy buy car?" they love it. They go crazy. If we're in the yard with the dogs and the car door is open they'll jump in.

Do you take your dog on "fun rides" and not just to the vet? When I say fun rides I mean rides to the corner store to get a soda or going to the park. Our older dog used to not really be that into car rides because he associated car rides with trips to the vet. That being said it was hard to get him into the car (we'd have to pick him up and put him in). Since we started going on fun rides he's the first in the car.

What works for me when training a dog to jump in or out is the word "Hup!" Say it quick and like it's fun to do. You may have to walk her in a circle around the car first and when you get to the door, say " Hup !" It make take a few times until your puppy learns the command. Praise your puppy when she does it right. Good luck in training, hope this helps you.

Make sure that for now, put a few treats and lead him into it.. But most importantly, make sure you're not going to the same place (like the vet or groomers) every time you're taking him with you. If you were to do that, he'd think he's going to the vet everytime and therefore wouldn't get in.

I have never had a problem with this. They run and jump in the car when you say Bye Bye. Have you tried to teach her excitement about going bye-bye. You know, baby talk her and encourage her?
This is an interesting question. I have never seen a dog not like a car ride.

i had to work on this too... at first she was just too short.. then as she got bigger, i still had to lift her,, then that was hard to do.. so i started with really good treats.. and put them just out of reach to her.. and put her front paws up. let her get the first, then place a second further back..
it just took a while... now i dont need treats, she is so excited to go somewhere she practicaully runs in..lol...
