Do you think the Terrafugia will lead to flying cars?

Apparently, an MIT genius has designed and built a car/plane hybrid? Do you think this will lead to flying cars? I sure hope not!!!!!
To be honest, I moved to the UK from NC to get away from my family. I don’t want the distance from here to there to get any shorter or easier. Also, would there still be countries and passports and restrictions on migrant workers if flying cars came about?

it is another step along the way, but it will take a long time before we have cars flying through highways in the air. that is still a dream at this point. remember though that flying cars are not new, they have been around since the late forties or early fifties in one form or another.

A brilliant design but think about the reality for a moment. You still need an Airstrip and a pilots license. The Terrafugia is however a very clever step forwards and a very neat little package.
For ease of use I think the Moller M400 will be the one to watch, but alas news is scarce and development seems to be taking decades. It is their intent to eventually make the vehicle take off, fly to your destination and then land automatically. Getting the computer software to work with the hardware was proving difficult in the last news letter. It will be a true VTOL vehicle when eventually released.
And just to put you at ease, the age of family sized flying cars doing transatlantic trips is a fair way off yet…..and think of the planning and clearances that would have to be done.If anything migrant restrictions etc would be more closely monitored. You have a few more years of peace yet! LOL

frightening ..can you imagine it…the quality of driving on the roads .and thankfully that’s kept on the ground at the moment ….airbags replaced by parachutes maybe !!!

I’ll have to agree with the above. The technology for flying cars may be available, but the driving abilities of the population needs to come a long, long way.
