Frank asked:
Was an older car, but no apparent oil leak or warning light. I offered to split the cost of a new engine, but owner was adamant that car be returned with working engine or nothing. I kept the car for months trying to resolve this. When I had to move, I offered to tow it back, but was asked to dispose of it instead. Now friend continues to bears grudge and say that I am responsible for his deceased car. Am I responsible for not checking the oil and transmission fluid levels before driving it?
