you dont want much do you? perhaps we can explain how the space shuttle works too? i am kidding of course. an automobile is a complex piece of machinery, that while easy to explain its basic operation, does require a lot of space. the howstuffworks website is a good site to check out. also check out the many automotive forums on the net, and ask questions there. you can find them by googling the make of your car. when you sign up for one, or more, be sure to introduce yourself and let them know that you are just learning about how cars work, and you intend to ask many questions that may sound stupid, but to please bear with you. trust me mosy of the guys on the forums will treat you with respect in the tech forums. expect some leg humping in the non tech forums though.

It would take many words to describe it. You should just ping the Internet in a Search engine, there are sites out there with all the information you need. Yahoo! Answers is a poor substitute for the web on this one. The complexity of the engine, transmissions, rear axles, etc are far too much to do in this simple forum. Glad you're interested, though!
