Car wont start and battery cables have no power getting through them. Can anyone help?

Ithink you answered your own question, clean the frame ground and reattach then try to start. Old guy_64…

You have a 16 year old car it would not be imposable to need new cables. If starter ,alt, and batt. checked out then i would replace the cables. The cables over the years can corrode on the inside were you can’ t see. I hopes this helps. james d

An easy way to confirm your earth fault is to connect the black jump cable to the negative (- minus sign) terminal on your battery and the other end of the jump lead to a solid part of the engine like an exhaust manifold or bracket. If the engine turns over then the cars earth lead is your fault.
You have not said if the jump leads you are using are the thick heavy duty type which will jump start one car off another or the thin trickle leads sold at petrol stations. These are supposed to be left connected and the good car left running for several minutes or longer, this charges the dead cars battery. As trickle leads are so thin the car wont turn over connected with these as the amperage needed is too great for the thin leads your using. Cheers Rod A
