Can you keep flowers in a car over night?

I’m planning on buying flowers for my gf the day before valentine’s and keeping them hidden in my car overnight so I can get em out and surprise her in the morning. My only concern is whether the flowers will survive in only water overnight in the darkness of my car…anybody know if they can make it overnight?

the severe weather change may cause the flowers to wilt or dye. Flowers are very sensitive especially roses. the darkness will not hurt them mostly the weather.

It all depends on the weather where you are at.

yes, but the temperature should not drop below 38 or 40 degrees depending upon the flowers. I had an amaryllis bulb that had finished blooming and I left that in my car overnight last february. it was way below freezing and froze it. Fortunately, it sprouted again in 6 weeks! I didn’t kill it! It did not bloom this year though, but It has a chance for next year. I know you don’t care about that.

it does depend where you are but just don’t keep overnight in your car or the plant will die plus it needs air. but you know people have plants outside and it still lives because they give it water and everything so maybe, just maybe it could live. one more thing is that you could make a hole in the ground put the flowers in the ground and make it look like part of your garden or just keep in your house.

Yes, they will be fine as long as they have a water supply and the temperature inside of the locked up car is not too hot or cold. The only thing that will cause them to wilt is freezing temperatures and excessively hot temperatures. As long as you put them in the car just when the sun goes down, they will be fine in the overnight temperatures. Look at the florist shops. To preserve freshness, they put the arranged bouquets of flowers in a refrigerated cooler (around 40 degrees) for their customers to view before purchasing. Use this as a positive example.
