The invention of an automobile has given people more choices they may not have had before and is most likely more cost effective. I have a child that needed to see a specialist... the ones in my area were not well enough qualified to take care of her. So I had to take her to VA where a specific procedure was invented. It's called the "Nuss Procedure" and Dr. Nuss performed it on her when Pittsburgh Children Hospital damn near killed her. It was cheaper for me to drive to VA than it was to fly. Sure I could have put myself and my daughter on a greyhound, but it would have taken 16 hours... oh wait.. scratch that.. that's an automobile.
