I heard that hybrid cars don’t have the best life span and also more expensive to maintain (to fix), and the battery cost a lot if it dies. He didn’t charge me anything to check out the car because my car is so old his software isn’t compatible. I am quite mechanically minded and car-literate, but I have never heard of this part and I can’t find anything about it online. From my understanding it regulates the fuel pump, cooling fan, and a few other things.

Why does my car have an intermittent judder?

I think that the tyre change is a red herring as I have subsequently had all my wheels balanced, the car has been tracked and all tyres have been swapped around to establish if any of them were faulty.
